KHELAN PADISHAR II

Khelan Padishar II

Khelan Padishar II was born over thirty years ago into the minor noble family of Padishar.  The Padishar family holdings are in the country of Tethyr, just south of the Tethir Forest.  Family Padishar is related through Khelan's grandmother to the recently deposed royal family (Khelan's grandmother was niece to the then Queen).

Khelan is an ardent supporter of the former royal family and believes an heir to this family, of which they are closely related, must be returned to the throne.  Khelan feels this way for several reasons that become evident from his personal life:

Khelan would be given s stipend and a fine mount, good (if not the best) schooling, his mother's painful training in etiquette, and training in armed warfare.  His choices in profession ranged from soldiering to artisanship, to business, law and religion.  Through out his tutoring, Khelan was drawn to history and religion and how they were intertwined in the "big picture" of his country and the world.  Khelan was not much for numbers and the sciences and did quite poorly in these subjects, but he loved to read and become more deeply interested in the religions of the world.  Khelan also knew that we was not as sharp-witted as his older brother, and would never succeed in business and he was nowhere near as creative as his parents and sister.  But  Khelan did believe he possessed a lot of common sense, he was a strong and practiced the arts of war and played sports competitively and was interested in law, history and religion.

Khelan was in his early teens when his parents realized where Khelan's interest were leading him and felt he need to acquire more training if he were to be a success.  Khelan's mother called in many favors and quite a few bribes were paid, but Khelan was able to secure a spot at court in Castle Tethyr.  For once, Khelan had succeeded in the bright lights of his beautiful and talented sister and brilliant brother.  He was going to court!  And he was to begin as an assistant tutor to his younger second cousins in the noble family and to the children of the King's most trusted advisors.

Khelan has had other minor adventures, chasing down leads on other "members" of the royal family and has dispatched a pretender to the throne in a duel in the City of Suzail.  For this he was jailed, but was later released when the Church of Tyr negotiated his release with Cormyrian officials sympathetic to his cause (they are strong supporters of maintaining the status quo of feudal society).
